Ross, at this point, people log their own hours on a card using the Honor System (I don't think anyone is going to cheat us out of a couple dollars).

Our spinoff company, Re:Source Fitness is working on a way for members to log their hours and energy stats online.

Hey Adam,

On your website it says that you award your members $10 and other discounts for every 10 hours they work out for and use your machines.

How do you log those hours? Do you have an electronic system or is it just individuals recording their own hours?

Thanks,
Ross

Alex,

We are operating as a corporation.
I am the only employee at the moment, but we have interns. If we expand, I may hire a manager, or it might be a franchisee situation, so they may or may not hire a manager.
I'm afraid I'm not divulging finances right now. That's information we give to prospective franchisees who are serious about working with us.

Hey Adam!
My name is Alex, I'm a student from Switzerland. Some classmates and I have chosen your gym to be our topic of the presentation we have to do.
In fact I only have some small questions:
1. what's your corporate organization? corporation, limited liability corporation?
2. How many empolyees do you have at the moment? I read about some expansions plans, how many employees do you plan to engage?
3. About your finaces: sales volume/ profit ?

all the rest i need to know i can already take from your answers to other students, thx a lot!

Reid, I agree, and we're actually just finishing up a project that will enable us to do that exact thing. As with everything we're doing, it's taken awhile to get to the point where we have something reliable to show, but I hope we'll have something on our website showing the energy generation of our spin bikes in the next month, and in the next few months, every piece of electricity generating cardio in the gym.

Hi Adam,

I'm wondering if it is at all possible (or feasible) to equip your machines with a digital readout displaying each users' contribution to the overall output. I realize that this will require some sort of database and registration system (and therefore use additional electricity), but I figure it will motivate users to both compete with one another and to feel a sense of contribution (through quantification of their efforts).

I am a graduate student completing a business plan for an eco-friendly gym - any information (or additional contacts/resources) on the above would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you kindly,

Reid

I pay an average of $50 a month for electricity. Good luck with those 900 points!

Cassie,

I'm happy to answer your questions - some I'll have to pass on because of confidentiality reasons, but please first read more thoroughly through our website and previous questions - I think most of your questions will be answered.

After that, please re-submit your questions and I'll get to them.

Sorry to be rude, but I only have so much time to devote to answering student questions.

Hey Adam. I am doing a huge school project, that involves us making a business. I have a few questions for you, because your gym is along the lines of what we are trying to accomplish.
1) How much energy do you produce every day, on average?
2) How much energy do you use that you aren't able to produce?
3) How many employees do you find necessary to have, on average?
4) What would a reasonable salary for this type of business be?
Thanks so much

1. We have one inverter per machine that plugs right into the wall.
2. Yes, they are pretty much the same size. At this point, we are retrofitting existing machines, so the dimensions would be pretty much the same.
